MISSION - Theresa Gawlik Martin, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Mrs. Martin died peacefully with her son and daughter at her side, following a short illness.
She was born in Panna Maria in 1920. In 1933, her family moved to the Valley and she had lived most of her life in Mission, where she was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and of St. Paul’s Altar Society. Mrs. Martin left Mission after the death of her husband, Herbert Martin and moved to Jefferson to be closer to her daughter and her family. In 2001, she moved to Flower Mound where she was an active member of the local retirement community. She attended St. Philip Catholic Church there.
She is survived by her son, Patrick Hruzek, and his wife, Ellen, of Niceville, Florida; her daughter, Lana Wright, and her husband, John Wright, of Lewisville; sisters, Mrs. Sally Keck of Lancaster, CA, Mrs. Alice Perry of Corpus Christi, and Mrs. Jeanne Reavis of Seguin; six grandchildren, Tony Hruzek and Chris Hruzek of Austin, Duane Hruzek of Houston, Lloyd Wright of Flower Mound, Thorin Wright of Henderson, NV, and Dawn Wright also of Austin; and four great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be held on Friday, January 14, at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be held Saturday, January 15, at St. Paul’s in Mission at 9:30 a.m., with burial following at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission.
