MISSION — R. C. "Doc" Henry, 89, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 at Solara Hospital in McAllen.
Mr. Henry was born to Mr. Floyd Miriam Henry and Mrs. Winnie Elizabeth Henry on Feb. 24, 1922 in Bay City and resided in Sharyland for 65 years.
He was a Master Mason in Lodge 1061. He served as a Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS McCawley in the Pacific.
Survivors include his daughters, Beverly Shives of Alvin, Beth Henry of Sharyland, and Sally Burns of Sharyland; sons, David Henry of Sharyland, Roy Henry of Austin, Scott Henry of Austin, Sheldon Valla of Austin, and Darrell Pritchard of Mission; sister, Beatrice Henry of Houston; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia Marie; and granddaughter, Tawnya Leeann Henry.
A military graveside service was held at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Jan. 28.
Pallbearers were David Henry, Scott Henry, Sheldon Valla, Darrell Pritchard, Jimmy Shives, and Pete Hernandez.
