ALTON - Daniel Vela, 91, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Briarcliff Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in McAllen.
He was born to Modesto Vela and Faustina Silva on August 7, 1920 in Diaz Ordaz, Tamaulipas.
Survivors include his children, Yolanda Villarreal of Mission, Irma Bourbois of Alton, Petra Cruz Sr. of Dallas, Juan Daniel Vela of Dallas; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 13, from 1 to 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Virgil Wilson Memorial Chapel in Mission. The funeral mass will be held Wednesday, March 14, at 2:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Interment follows at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission.
