ALTON - Ernesto Vargas, 82, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012 at his residence in Alton. He was born to Manuel Vargas and Francisca Salazar on December 23, 1929 in Mission.
Survivors include his children, Ernesto Vargas Jr., Raul Vargas, Reymundo Vargas, Helen Pacheco, Linda Mercado, Eduardo Vargas, Gilberto Vargas, Jasper Vargas, Vicente Vargas and Criselda Campos; siblings, Carlos Vargas, Reynaldo Vargas and Jovita Tovar; and 38 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 22, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Virgil Wilson Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be held there at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 23. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAllen.
