MISSION – Kenneth "Kenny" Hamer Sr., 91, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Mission Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Hamer was a veteran of WWII and served in the Marines with the VMSB 333. He worked as a pipefitter for Local 219 in Akron, Ohio. He was a 33rd Degree Mason in the Valley of Akron and also a member of the Scottish Rite. As an avid fan of the Mission sports teams, he was named Honorary Coach and #1 Fan. He was a long time member of Sharyland golf course.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth J. Hamer Jr.; daughter, Nancy L. Hamer; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Joan Hamer; granddaughter, Andrea Hamer; and his parents, a brother and a sister.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Mission High School girl sports teams.
