MISSION - Juan David “JD" Garza, 47, died Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Hebbronville, Mr. Garza was currently living in Mission. Formerly of San Juan and Pharr, he was a 1983 graduate of PSJA High School. He attended Little Rock Missionary Baptist Seminary for five years and then served as pastor of Brownsville Baptist Church from 1995 to 2008. He went on to pastor at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in San Antonio from 2009 to 2012.
Survivors include his wife, Marisol Garza of Mission; children, Seth, Samuel, Sean, Stuart, Shay and Sophia Garza, all of Mission; parents, Juan Jr. and Teresa Garza of Mission; brother, Edward Garza of San Juan; and sisters, Rebecca Garza and Julie Ann Estrada, both of San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Juan and Manuela Garza, and maternal grandparents, Magdaleno and Inocencia Luna.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Tuesday, May 8, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
