LA JOYA – Margarito Alaniz Sr., 58, passed away Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. Mr. Alaniz was born in La Joya on Aug. 23, 1952 to Victor and Evangelina Alaniz.
Survivors include his wife, Olga Alaniz; son, Daniel Alaniz; daughters, Zonia Saenz and Denyse Alaniz; brothers, Victor Alaniz, David Alaniz, and Frank Arnold Alaniz; a sister, Delfina Vasquez; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Margarito Alaniz Jr.; grandson, Daven James Alaniz; and a sister, Olga Alaniz.
The funeral mass was held Feb. 8, at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in La Joya. Burial followed at Havana City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care of L&I Funeral Home of Peñitas.
