MISSION - Eliseo “Papo” Pompa Sr., 86, passed away Thursday May 31, 2012.
Mr. Pompa was born September 1, 1925 to Santiago and Antonia Pompa. He graduated from Mission High School and served his country in the US Navy and was a WW II veteran.
He married the late Maria F. Maldonado, and they settled in Mission. He worked for Wilson Construction.
Survivors include his children, Eliseo Pompa Jr., Elizabeth Salinas, Silvia Pompa, Cynthia P. Gonzalez and Martha E. Reben; brothers Jose R. Pompa and Clemente Pompa; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral mass was held June 4 at St Paul’s Catholic Church in Mission. Interment followed at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission.
Serving as pallbearers were his grandsons, Sergio O. Pompa, Marco A. Pompa, Aaron T. Salinas, Phillip Gonzalez, Jaime D. Salinas, Omar D. Pompa and Anthony Gonzalez.
Honorary pallbearers were his granddaughters, Elina D. Pompa and Abreyella S. Ysquierdo.
The family requested that any memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of one’s choice.
