Tomas Cavazos Jr., 70, a resident of Merced, Calif. passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012.
Mr. Cavazos was born in Mission to Tomas and Modesta Cavazos. He attended local schools and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business from Pan American. He taught school at the elementary and high school levels. He worked for the Better Business Bureau and also served as the administrator for the Farmers Market. He married Lidia Trejo on September 9, 1967.
Survivors include his wife, Lidia Cavazos; daughters, Monica Brushia and Lisa Marie Cavazos; brothers, Jose and Emilio Cavazos; sisters, Manuela and Janie Cavazos; and three grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; maternal grandmother, Maria Cavazos DeLeon; and paternal grandparents, Atanacio Cavazos and Concepcion Zavaleta Cavazos.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. on Monday, June 11, with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission, Texas.
The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Catholic Cemetery in Mission.
