OBIT: Clara Jean Killam Bodine

ALEDO – Clara Jean Killam Bodine, 91, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012.

Mrs. Bodine was born in 1924 near Eola in Tom Green County to Jesse Jewel and Sarah Viola Killam. In 1939 she graduated from Eola High School as valedictorian and went on to study home economics at Texas Tech University.

She married Harmon M. Bodine on July 5, 1941. They lived in Mission for 52 years and then moved to Aledo for the last 13 years. She was a 56-year member of the P.E.O. sisterhood and served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A.

Survivors include her daughters, Judy Suter of Mission, Joani Youngblood of Fort Worth and Jill Birdwell of Aledo; and eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

A funeral service was held June 15 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Aledo. A graveside service was held June 17 at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission.

Pallbearers were Bobby Yancy, Justin Yancy, Lt. Col. Bo Birdwell, Warrie Birdwell, Michael McMahon, Carl Roland and Monty Youngblood.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggested that memorial contributions be made to Faith Presbyterian Church, 310 Bailey Ranch Road, Aledo, TX 76008, or the charity of one’s choice.
