MISSION – Jose Refugio Marquez died June 29, 2012. He was born to Encarnacion and Ester Marquez in Zacatecaz, Mexico on July 31, 1921.
He left a great legacy for his children and taught some great lessons and values through pure example. He left the best example of what a loving father should be, of sacrifice, hard work, honesty and integrity, humility, forgiveness, and what was most important to him, about testifying of God’s love and His plan, and about preaching His word to everyone around. He was an excellent and loving father and will forever be remembered.
He is survived by his children, Frances Sanchez, Susie Reyna, Esther Gaytan, Jesus Marquez all of Mission, Ron Marquez of San Juan, Janie Dehaan of Washington, Blanca Delgado of Washington, Eloisa and Ruben Marquez of California; brothers, Antonio and Merced Marquez; thirty-four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Marquez.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 3 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 29th and Dove in McAllen. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
