Lt. Col. Edward J. Sandy passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2012. Born in Lake Forest IL, 1916, Lt. Col. Sandy was the navigator aboard a B-29b based in Guam in WWII. He flew 16 missions and was awarded the Air Medal. He later founded and operated Commercial Scale Co Inc. of Springfield, Mass. While serving in the Air Force Reserves, he became the Liaison Coordinator in New England for the Air Force Academy admissions. He was an accomplished artist and past president of the Upper Valley Art League.
He is survived by his son Chuck Sandy of Spencer, Mass. And a daughter, Jeanne Hill of West Springfield, Mass.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dr. Dolores E Sandy, and a son, William.
Private services and burial will take place at a later date.
