OBIT-Betty Katherine Havelka

MISSION - Betty Katherine Havelka, 80, passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, in Mission.

Mrs. Havelka was born to William Arthur Kelly and Lilly Mae Barnette Kelly in Davis, Okla. on April 1, 1932. The family moved to the Rio Grande Valley when she was a child. She graduated from La Joya High School and later married Louis Emil Havelka. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and the 8:30 choir.

Survivors include her children, Beverly Fatherree of Pasadena, Brenda Durand of Sugarland, Louis E. Havelka Jr. of Mission and Ronald Havelka of Rockport; sisters, Vernell Hoffman and Christine Newkirk; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Naomi Adkins; and brothers, James Kelly and Edward Kelly.

A funeral mass will be held Monday, Oct. 15, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
