MISSION - Maria I. Borrego Guerrero, 82, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Mission Nursing Home.

She was crowned Queen of Amigos del Valle in Elsa, and always enjoyed dancing as well as singing. She will always be remembered for all the crafts she made as gifts for friends and family.

Preceding her in death were her husband Noel Borrego; son, Javier Borrego; and a grandson, Enrique Rios.

Survivors include her children, Alicia (Joe) Borrego Lopez of Mission, Yolanda (Oscar) Borrego Rios of Mercedes, Elva Borrego of Mission, Noel (Leticia) Borrego Jr. of Grand Prairie, Imelda (Richard) Borrego Vela of McAllen; daughter-in-law, Maria Guadalupe Borrego; and 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 18, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. The funeral will be held Saturday, March 19, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial follows at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission.
