MISSION - Ismael Garza Sr., 88, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, at his residence in Mission. He was born on Dec. 13, 1923 in Mission to Mateo and Julia Garza.
Mr. Garza is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dora Gomez Garza of Mission; sons, Ismael Garza Jr. from Mission and David Garza of Oklahoma; daughters, Alicia Garcia of Mission, Maria Elena Garza of Irving, Susana Garza of Edinburg and Melissa Fuentes of Dallas; sister, Ernestina Valdez; brothers, Raul Garza, David Garza, Herman Garza, Pablo Garza, Oscar Garza, Mateo Garza Jr. and Rene Garza; and 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren..
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Enrique Garza and Ernesto Garza; and sister, Olivia Basaldua.
Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 9, from 1 to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Flores Funeral Home in Mission. The funeral mass will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
