OBIT-Dora Diaz Pena

LA JOYA - Dora Diaz Pena, 89, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012.

Mrs. Pena was born Aug. 1, 1923 in Los Ebanos where she attended elementary school and later became a resident of La Joya. She was an active member of the La Joya Mennonite Brethren Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Raquel Martinez, Ofelia Villalon of Mission, Palmira Castillo of McAllen and Graciela Reyna of San Antonio; son, Roel R. Pena of Kensett, Arkansas; and 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mateo Diaz Sr. and Salome V. Diaz; son, Omar A. Pena; sisters, Paulina Sanchez, Herminia Garza, Amalia Zamora and Berta Hinojosa; and brothers, Delio D. Diaz, Gilberto Diaz Sr., Dennis Diaz Sr., Jose Diaz, Mateo Diaz Jr., Melecio Diaz, Severo Diaz and Abel Diaz Sr.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m. at Lord and I Memorial Chapel in Penitas. Burial will follow at Los Ebanos Cemetery.
