McALLEN - Bacilio De Luna, 88, died Jan. 1, 2013.
Born on Nov. 13, 1924, in Mission, Mr. De Luna was a graduate of La Joya High School and attended Pan American Junior College. He was a World War II veteran serving in Germany with the 1st Infantry Division, earning a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
He is survived by his daughter, Sylvia De Luna Cerda; brother, Miguel De Luna Sr.; and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria, and son, Matias.
A viewing will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, from 1 to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Flores Funeral Home in Mission. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Abram. Interment with military honors will follow at San Jose Cemetery in Abram.
Pallbearers will be David Cerda, Aaron De Luna, David Land, Miguel De Luna Jr., Fernando Cerda Jr. and Robert Martinez.
