OBIT-Helen Alaniz

MISSION - Helen Alaniz, 90, passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 at McAllen Medical Center.

Mrs. Alaniz was born on Aug. 17, 1922 to Francisco and Angelita Resendez in Rio Grande City. She married Pete Alaniz on Dec. 15, 1946 and worked at Mission Rexall Drug Store for over 15 years and in 1972 alongside her husband at Pete's Auto Supply until their retirement in 1992.

Survivors include her son, Robert Alaniz, and two grandsons.

She was preceded in death her husband and parents; sisters, Pila Balli and Licha Benavidez, and a brother, Joe Resendez.

A funeral mass was held Dec. 29 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mission, and burial followed at Valley Memorial Gardens.
