MISSION – Dennis A. Filippi Sr., 68, passed away on March 27, 2011 at his residence in Mission.
Mr. Filippi was born and raised in Chicago. Following service in the U.S. Army, he worked for the City of Chicago as a coordinator and in other capacities. He later worked as a deputy for the Cook County Sheriff's Department. Upon retirement, he moved to the Rio Grande Valley.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Joanne Filippi of Mission; children, Roxanne, Dennis Jr., Shelly, Kimberly, Anthony, and Mary; grandchildren, Jerry, Jonathon, Joshua, Michael, Angela, and Anthony Jr.; sisters, Joanne, Ramona, Charlene, and Jacqueline; and a brother, Samuel.
He was preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Jacqueline Filippi, and a brother Joseph.
Visitation will be held March 30 from 5–7 p.m. at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. A funeral service will be held March 31 at 10 a.m. at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mission. Burial will follow at Rio Grande State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
