MISSION - Severo Barrera, 89, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013 at Comfort House in McAllen. He was born in Ciudad Mier, Tamps., Mexico in 1923.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Antonio and Altagracia Barrera; brothers, Antonio Barrera, Santos Barrera, Leopoldo Barrera, Albano Barrera and Eulalio Barrera; and sisters, Ramona Fischer, Manuela Garcia, Vicenta Saenz and Arabela Barrera.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Maria Otila Barrera of Mission; sons, Manuel Barrera of McAllen and Rene Barrera of Mission; daughters, Gracie Barrera of Mission and Anna Olivarez of Mission; brother, Manuel Barrera of Ciudad Mier, Tamps.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 1, at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, at 12 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens.
