MISSION - Gustavo "Tavo" Gonzalez, 79, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 at his residence in Mission.
He was a Korean War veteran and served in the U.S. Army from June 1952 to August 1962.
He is survived by his son, Gustavo Gonzalez Jr.; sisters, Angelica Gonzalez and Ester Hernandez; stepchildren San Juana Escalera, Alma Rodirguez, Leticia Piñon and Victor Rodriguez; and 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Dolores Gonzalez; parents, Hilario and Ester Gonzalez; and brother, Ernesto Gonzalez.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission from 1 to 9 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
