MISSION - America G. Escamilla, 81, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
She served with the American Legion Auxiliary Post 93 in Mission.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Patricio Escamilla; children, Pat Escamilla III, Rolando Escamilla, Leticia Sepulveda, Robert Escamilla, Joan Barrera, Thelma Ramirez, Joaquin Escamilla and Norma Castillo; brother, Arnaldo Gonzalez; sister, Yolanda Ramos; and 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joaquin and Ramona Gonzalez, and brothers, Joaquin Gonzalez Jr. and Gonzalo Gonzalez.
The funeral mass will be held Friday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission with Rev. Roy Snipes, OMI, officiating. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Rolando Escamilla Jr., Michael Escamilla, Isaac Escamilla, Bobby Escamilla, Carlos Becho, Joaquin Escamilla Jr., Joey Escamilla, Joshua Escamilla and Justin Escamilla. Honorary pallbearers will be her remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
