PENITAS- Ascension R. Chapa, 88, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at her residence in Peñitas.
Mrs. Chapa was born to Trinidad and Raquel Rodriguez on Nov. 25, 1924 in Rio Grande City. She was an educator for over 30 years with Mission and La Joya school districts. She actively served St. Anthony's Catholic Church and served her community in the La Joya and Penitas area.
Survivors include her daughters, Petra Ramirez of La Joya, Sylvia Flores of Spring, Edna Moreno of Peñitas, Nora Farias of Peñitas and Alicia Gonzalez of Peñitas; sister, Eva R Garza of Austin; brother, Encarnacion J. Rodriguez of Rio Grande City; and 15 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Concepcion Chapa; brothers, Lazaro Rodriguez and Trinidad Rodriguez Jr.; and a sister, Maria Julia R. Perez.
The funeral mass will be held Friday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jose Ramirez IV, Efrain Ramirez, Antonio Ramirez, Marco Antonio Flores, Jose Andres Flores, Carlos Moreno Jr., Rolando X. Moreno and Orlando Farias, Jr.
