MISSION - Margaret Smith Mills died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, in Mission.
Mrs. Mills was born on July 30, 1924, in Liberty Community, Hopkins County. She was a graduate of Sulphur Springs High School and East Texas Teachers College (now Texas A&M Commerce). Upon graduation, she worked in the legal department of J.A. Jones Construction Company in Oak Ridge, Tenn. and for the Tennessee Valley Authority. After World War II, she returned to Texas where she was employed by Attorney General Grover Sellers and met her future husband, C.Y. Mills. They married Dec. 18, 1948, and moved to Mission.
She taught Sunday school at the First United Methodist Church of Mission and served as a member of the Memorial Committee. She also was a Cub Scout den mother and a member of the Junior Service League.
She is survived by her children, Mike Mills of McAllen, Mark Mills of Coppell, and Melinda Springer of San Angelo; and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Mills was preceded in death by her husband.
A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Earl Richardson at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 4, at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons.
