MISSION - Heberto Gonzalez, 80, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Mission Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Inez Gonzalez; children, George Gonzalez, Molly Gutierrez, Vilma Salinas, Lisa Covey and Heberto Gonzalez; siblings, Leonor Royce, Reyna Hoyos, Dora Tavarez, Francisco Gonzalez, Gloria Gonzalez and Sam Gonzalez; and 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Lazara Gonzalez; and his siblings, San Juana Gonzalez, Gracia Lorrero, Neo Gonzalez and Leonel Gonzalez.
Mr. Gonzalez was a veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged after three years. After He worked for Sunoco Oil and retired after 30 years and then returned to start his own citrus business.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home from 1 to 9 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 6, at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens.
