Martha Louise Kendrick, long time resident of the Mission area, died Monday April 11, 2011 at Arbor View Nursing Home in McAllen.
Born in 1915 in Brownwood, Mrs. Kendrick graduated from Coleman High school in 1931. She married James Sherrill Kendrick in 1936 and was married for over 50 years. She moved from Gatesville to the Valley in 1949.
Mrs. Kendrick was active in the Mission Presbyterian Church and served as a volunteer at McAllen Medical Center. She loved to play bridge and played in several bridge circles until three years ago when she had to limit her activities due to illness. Her home was always open to the community and many baby and bridal showers were held there for friends. She was employed by the Sharyland I.S.D.
She is survived by her son, Mike, and his wife, Phillis; daughter, Kathy Voss, and her husband, Robert; another son, Sherrill; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Sharyland Foundation, 1106 N. Shary Rd., Mission, TX 78572. A service will be held in Gatesville at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Virgil Wilson Mortuary of Mission.
