MISSION – Guadalupe "Nana" Ramirez, 90, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
Mrs. Ramirez was born on April 7, 1923 in Mission to Pablo and Delfina Lopez. She graduated from Mission High School and later married Leopoldo Ramirez Jr. on Feb. 2, 1947.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Leopoldo Ramirez Jr.; children, Irma R. Gomez, Dr. Mona Parras, Mellie Becho, Libby Pena, Leopoldo Ramirez III, Melba Ayala; sisters, Oralia Lopez, Ofelia de Rueda and Esperanza Sandoval; and 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Delfina Lopez; brother, Raul Lopez; and sister, Eva Ocanas.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 20, at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission from 3 to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 21, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Mission at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at RGV Veterans State Cemetery in Mission.
Pallbearers will be Jose Antonio Gomez, Tony Gomez Jr., Marco Gomez, Mike Vasquez, Pete Ayala, Petie Ayala Jr., Rolando Pena, Roy Becho and Luis Parras.
