MISSION - Mission – Armando A. Rendon Sr., 73, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at his residence in Mission.
Mr. Rendon was born on Feb. 20, 1940 to Margarito and Santos Rendon in Mission. He served over 15 years with the Mission Volunteer Fire Department. He served as the assistant fire chief and interim fire chief. He worked for over 20 years as a foreman for Firecheck of Texas.
Survivors include his children, Norma L. Rendon, Nora Lee Serna, Armando A. Rendon Jr. and Joel Munguia; brothers, Ramiro Rendon and Ruben Rendon; sister, Carmela Cantu; and14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Cantu, Rendon; his parents; brother, Raul Orlando Rendon; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23, at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home from 1to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 24, at 12 p.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ernesto Buentello, Rene Alaniz, Dr. Armando Ocaña, Jorge Ocaña, Ricardo Saldaña and Joel Munguia. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Armando A. Rendon III, Francisco J. Serna Jr., Manuel Acevedo Jr., Caden and Hudson Munguia.
