MISSION - William D. Creighton, 81, formerly of Woburn, Mass. and Jamestown, N.Y. passed away at his residence on June 30, 2013.
Mr. Creighton was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on October 2, 1931 to William D. and Marie (Cormier) Creighton. He attended Boston University and was veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1954 to 1956.
He last resided in Mission and spent over 35 years in the Jamestown area. Previously, he had lived in Philadelphia, Chicago and Los Angeles. He was married to Barbara Vyncke and they lived in Woburn, Mass. until moving to Jamestown in 1966.
He was a 40-year employee of American Locker Security Systems, a division of AVM Corporation in numerous positions starting as the office stock boy and retiring as vice president and general manager.
He was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics, Experimental Aircraft Association, Antique Automobile Club of America, Vikings Lodge, Lakewood Rod and Gun Club of Jamestown, Family Motor Coach Association, Rabboni Lodge of AF and AM of Massachusetts and Automobile Association of America.
Survivors include his wife, Lucile Hasley; daughter, Doreen Powell of Buffalo, N.Y.; half-sisters, Dolores Dawson of Bedford, N.H. and Bette Burrill and Susan Creighton of Rockland, Mass.; and three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
His remains were cremated and his ashes were dispersed at both the Creighton family plot at Greenlawn Cemetery in Medway, Mass. and with Lucile in Kansas City, Missouri.
