OBIT-Aida Minerva De La Garza

MISSION - Aida Minerva De La Garza, 79, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Mission Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. De La Garza was born on Nov. 9, 1933 in Mission.

Survivors include her children, Diana Montes of Mission, Valentin De La Garza Jr. of Pflugerville, and Ricardo De La Garza, Luis Eduardo De La Garza, Rebecca Ann Sanchez and Norma Castañeda, all from Mission; siblings, Jose L. Flores Jr. of McAllen, Irma Lopez of Edinburg, Estela Zamora of Mission, Alida A. Garcia of Garciasville and Olga Mendiola of Palmview; and 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Valentin De La Garza; son, John David De La Garza; and a brother, Antonio M. Flores.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18, from 2 to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Flores Funeral Home Chapel A in Mission. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 19, at 11 a.m. at St. John of the Fields Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.

Pallbearers will be Arturo Montez IV, Dr. Marte Martinez, Zachary De La Garza, Ricardo Gabriel De La Garza, Justin Sanchez, John David De La Garza and Adrian Castañeda. Honorary pallbearer will be Jared Castañeda.
