McALLEN - Matilde G. Saenz, 85, passed away on Aug. 13, 2013 after a lengthy illness at her home in McAllen.
Born on July 1, 1928 in Mission, she was a homemaker most of her life and had worked for the McAllen School district.
Survivors include her children, Jose Roberto Saenz of McAllen, Adan Saenz of Edinburg and Nydia Blackwell of Lockhart; brothers, Adan Diaz of San Antonio, Rafael Garcia of Pharr and Arturo Garcia of Edinburg; sisters, Rebecca Soto of La Joya and Marina Garcia-Valdez of Mission; and six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jose Saenz, and parents, Bernardino and Ramona Garcia.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, Aug. 16, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission.
Serving as pallbearers will be Adan Saenz Jr., Albert Saenz, Robby Saenz, Garrett Farias, Artie Garcia and Roel Garza. Honorary pallbearers will be Christian Mireles and Saegan Farias.
