PEÑITAS - Luis Ochoa, 82, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at his daughter's home in Mission.
Mr. Ochoa was born in El Rancho El Estero, Municipio de Reynosa Diaz, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He lived in Peñitas most of his life and was a migrant farm worker.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Margarita G. Ochoa of Peñitas; sons, Alonzo Ochoa of Grand Haven, Mich., Miguel Ochoa and Jaime Ochoa of West Olive, Mich., Luis Ochoa Jr. of Fennville, Mich., Javier Ochoa of Holland, Mich., Arnoldo Ochoa and Eduardo Ochoa of Mission and Jose Alejandro Ochoa of Peñitas; daughters, Gracie Goodwin, Pat Campos and Alma Lara of Mission, Graciela Garcia of Fennville, Margarita Caldera of West Olive and Aracely Gonzales of McAllen; brothers, Guillermo Ochoa of Mission and Miguel Ochoa of Monterrey, Mexico; and 57 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Agraciana Ochoa; sister, Hortencia Ochoa; and brother, Amando Ochoa.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, from 3 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Peñitas. Interment will follow at Peñitas City Cemetery.
