ALTON - Gloria Elma Ortiz Gonzalez, 69, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013 at McAllen Medical Center.
She was born on July 4, 1944 in Mission to Marcelino and Sofia Gonzalez.
Survivors include her daughters, Maria Luisa Garcia, Sandra Ruiz, Hermelinda Ortiz, Veronica Gomez, Sofia Hernandez and Carina Arellano; sons, Juan Jose Ortiz, Javier Ortiz, Cesar Ortiz, Salvador Ortiz Jr. and Jose R. Ortiz; siblings, Arnulfo Gonzalez, Victoria Pacheco and Juana Torres; and 34 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Salvador Ortiz, Sr.; son, Roman Ortiz; parents; and brothers, Reynaldo Gonzalez, Martin Gonzalez and Juan Francisco Gonzalez.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at Funeraria Del Angel in Mission. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Alton. Interment will follow at Garden of Angels Cemetery in Abram.
Serving as pallbearers will be Marcelino Ortiz, Jose Reynaldo Ortiz Jr., Albert Lopez, Carlos Lopez, Kevin Fuentes, Jose Angel Ortiz, A.J. Perez, Steve Ortiz and Salvador Ortiz III.
