MISSION - Cresencio "Chico" Montalvo, 81, passed away to be with our Lord on Thursday, May 5, 2011, surrounded by his loving family at Rio Grande Regional Hospital.

He was born on October 28, 1929 to Arnulfo and Petra Montalvo. Mr. Montalvo was a native of Mission, where he attended Mission schools, and then began working at the age of 17 for Boscamp Radiator Services. After working there for 23 years, he became the owner and operator of the establishment from 1974 until his retirement in April of 2004.

Chico was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather and individual whom enjoyed life to the fullest, and kept his sense of humor even to the very end. He was a well known Mission business man that made sure he treated all his customers with respect, honesty and always gave them service with a smile.  One of his favorite past times was watching the Dallas Cowboys play.

Survivors include his lovely wife of 61 years, Esperanza Montalvo; sons, Jose Luis (Josie) Montalvo of Weslaco and Ricardo (Ann) Montalvo of Mission; daughters, Alma (Eddie) Sanchez of Mission and Letty (Esequiel) Rodriguez of Mission; seven grandchildren, Mike Sanchez, Eric Sanchez, Shane Montalvo, Jessica Montalvo, Danny Villalobos, Matthew Villalobos, and Lizette Rodriguez; and seven great-grandchildren, all whom reside in Mission.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.  Honorary pallbearers will be his sons and sons-in law, Jose Luis Montalvo, Ricardo Montalvo, Eddie Sanchez, and Esequiel Rodriguez.

On Monday, May 9, a church service will be held at 10 a.m. at Bread of Life Church in Mission.  Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
