OBIT-Ascencia G. Alaniz

MISSION - Ascencia G. "Chencha" Alaniz, 84, passed away on Saturday, Nov, 2, 2013 at her home in Mission.

Mrs. Alaniz was employed by First National Bank in Mission for over 35 years.

She was a lifelong member of El Mesias United Methodist Church, active in the choir, a Sunday School teacher for over 25 years and a member of the Gideon's Auxiliary.  

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Carlos J. Alaniz Sr. of Mission; sons, Carlos Alaniz Jr. of Mission and Richard Alaniz of Mission; sister, Berta Lopez; and seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Librado and Lydia De La Garza, and brother Librado S. De La Garza.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 10 a.m. at El Mesias in Mission. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAllen.
