OBIT-Lillian Maxine Newhouse Jones

MISSION - Lillian Maxine Newhouse Jones, 92, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, in her home in Mission.

Mrs. Jones was born on March 19, 1921, in Circleville, Ohio, to Daniel Wynter and Cleo Newhouse. The family moved to the Valley in 1928. She attended and graduated from Mission schools in 1938.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mission, Speer Memorial Library, Mission Garden Club, Mission Historical Museum and a leader in Girl Scouts. She was bookkeeper in a produce firm for 25 years and then joined in the family’s construction and land development companies in Mission.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Gibbs of Houston; son, Kenneth Jones of Mission; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband of 63 years, Woodrow Jones, her parents and a sister, Louise.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 10 a.m. at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Interment follows at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission.
