OBIT-Jose Maria Longoria

LA JOYA - Jose Maria Longoria, 88, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 in Benavides.

Mr. Longoria was born on July 24, 1925 to Guadalupe and Cleotilde Longoria in Peñitas. A La Joya resident, who farmed and ranched, he worked for Hidalgo County for over 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bertha Longoria; and daughter, Marie Janie Garcia.

Survivors include his children, Jose Maria Longoria Jr., Maria Olga Longoria, Jaime Longoria, Eduardo Longoria and Joanne Longoria; siblings, Teresa Hernandez, Francisca Garcia, Gerardo Longoria, Maria Barrios and Crisoforo Longoria; and 23 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.

A funeral mass was held Nov. 22 at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in La Joya. Interment followed at La Joya Cemetery.
