OBIT: Gerardo Mares

MISSION - Gerardo Mares, 41, passed away on May 14, 2011, at Mission Regional Medical Center.

He always put everyone else's needs first. His kind heart and outgoing and good-natured spirit endeared him to all who knew him. Gerardo's greatest joy was spending time with his children.

He is survived by his parents, Pedro and Ludivina S. Mares Sr. of Mission; children, Gerado "JJ" Mares of McAllen, Athina Mares of Alaska, Pedro (Isabel) Mares Jr. of McAllen, Sandra (Jose) Guerra of Mission, and David Mares of Mission.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 18, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, at the same location. Burial follows at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAllen.
