OBIT-Erasmo Rodriguez

MISSION - Erasmo Rodriguez, 81, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Mission Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Rodriguez was born in Rio Grande City on Nov. 19, 1932, and was one of 12 siblings. He married Maria Lucia Pena in 1954. He graduated from Mission High School and attended Pan American University. He served active duty in the U.S Army and National Guard Reserve.

Survivors include his wife; children, Lucy Ann Daigle, Rose Marie Garza, Norma Irene Castillo, David Xavier Rodriguez, Erasmo Rodriguez Jr., John Martin Rodriguez and Rosie Rodriguez; siblings, Joel Rodriguez, Rene Rodriguez, Gloria Hernandez, Dora Rodriguez, Suzie Depriest and Sylvia Porter; and 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 10, from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at Virgil Wilson Mortuary in Mission. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission.
