OBIT-Byron E. Brown

MISSION - Byron E. "Brownie" Brown, 86, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, in Mission.

Mr. Brown was born on Aug. 8, 1927 in Rising Sun, Iowa, to Arthur and Sarah Calland Brown. He graduated from Martensdale High School in 1944 and was a WW II veteran serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. He farmed near Cumming, Iowa, and was a truck driver until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of the Cumming Community Church and the Cumming American Legion Post #562. Upon his retirement he traveled to Colorado and Texas.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mary Ann Pegram Brown; daughters, Elizabeth Ackelson of Des Moines, Iowa, Barbara Jane Harris of Pleasant Hill, Iowa and Judy Geil (Bill) of Lancaster, Penn.; brother, Richard, of Indianola, Iowa; and four grandsons and nine great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his son, Byron Brown II, his parents, three sisters and a brother.

His remains were cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
