OBIT-Lizandro J. Garza

MISSION - Lizandro J. Garza, 83, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at Mission Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Garza was born on May 27, 1930 to Albino Garza and Rita Gonzalez in Rio Grande City. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War and worked for the City of McAllen for 38 years.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Maria F. Garza; children, Maria Aurelia Garcia, Martha Leticia Cadriel, Veronica Garza and Lizandro Javier Garza; siblings, Roberto, Teodoro, Ismael and Juan Jose Garza; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Santiago, Leonel, Albino and Erasmo Garza; and sisters, Guadalupe, Olivia and Maria Magdalena Garza.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 3, from 3 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Funeraria Del Angel in Mission. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 9:30 a.m. at Funeraria Del Angel in Mission. Interment will follow at R.G.V. State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
