OBIT-Jose L. Mata

MISSION - Jose L. Mata, 78, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Mission Regional Medical Center.

He was born on Nov. 11, 1935, to Luis Mata and Josefina Perez in Linares, N.L., Mexico.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Clemencia G. Mata; children, Martina Aguilar, Roberto Mata, Victor Mata, Jose Luis Mata Jr., Jorge A. Mata, Griselda Guerrero, Antonio Mata, Daniel Mata and San Juanita I. Mata; and 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Josefina Mata; son, Pedro Mata; and daughter, Teresa Mata.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, Feb. 24, at 12 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel in Mission. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
