MISSION – Ruth Maxine McKenzie Dahlberg, 82, passed away on May 28, 2011 at her home in Sharyland.

She was born to Hugh A. McKenzie and Helen Virdie Hess McKenzie in McAllen, Texas on July 10, 1928.

Ruth is survived by her son, Lloyd H. “Bubba” Dahlberg (Sheri); daughters. Lindy Dahlberg Golleher (Garth) and Laura Dahlberg Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Susie Crews; and son-in-law, Richard Elliot.

She has 13 surviving grandchildren, Lisa Dahlberg Twardowski (Russell), Leonard M. “Trey” Dahlberg (Tisha), L. Bradley Dahlberg, Robert B. Dahlberg (Heather), Stephanie Elliott, Kimberly Elliott, Larissa Elliott, Garth Golleher Jr. (Stacey), Timothy Golleher (Stacie), Casey Decker, Steven Jackson, Logan Jackson and Derek Jackson; as well as nine precious great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, H.A. McKenzie; husband, Leonard H. “Red” Dahlberg; son, Leonard H. “Mike” Dahlberg Jr.; and daughters, LeNora Dahlberg Elliot and Leitha Leigh Dalhberg.

Ruth was a lifelong resident of Sharyland and was a member of “Chatter Chums” for many decades. She had loving neighbors and a bounty of wonderful friends. She loved her family and was loved by everyone who knew her.

Her relationship with her grandchildren was especially loving and ‘colorful’. She created special memories they will cherish forever and she will be missed more than words can express.

A memorial service was held May 31 at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home, 621 E. Griffin Parkway, Mission.
