MISSION - Jose Luis Mercado, 47, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Doctor's Hospital of Renaissance in Edinburg.
He was a graduate of Mission High School and was employed by Archer Business Systems for over 25 years. He will be remembered for his big smile, his generous heart, his love for his wife and family, and the love for basketball, especially the Houston Rockets.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda L. Mercado; parents, Jose Luis and Aurelia Mercado Sr. of Mission; sisters, Maria Hilda Rodriguez (Javier) and Laura Mercado, both from Mission; nieces, Victoria Rodriguez and Valerie Rodriguez; nephew, Ayden Mercado; extended sisters, Debra Rodriguez, Sandra Rodriguez, Margot Ochoa, Sonia Tinberg, and Diana Vargas; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral mass was held May 30 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial followed at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAllen.
