OBIT-Harold Struyk

MISSION - Harold "Heck" Struyk, 93, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, at the McAllen Heart Hospital.

Mr. Struyk was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Sheldon, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army with the 34th Division "Red Bulls" in North Africa and Italy where he was a three-time Purple Heart recipient.

Survivors include his children Dave, Kathy, Susan and Marcia, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Jean Hurd, and siblings, William, Arthur, Arie, Cora and Kathleen.

A graveside service with military honors was held on April 16 at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.

Donations may be made in his honor to the Wounded Warriors Project at 877-832-6997.
