OBIT-Juan Mercado

MISSION - Juan Mercado, 65, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014, at Mission Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Mercado was born on Feb. 21, 1949. He was a welder by profession and lived previously in Raton, New Mexico and Trinidad, Colorado.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Paulita Soto Mercado; son, Jaime Mercado; and siblings, Adan Mercado, Alicia Charles, Raquel Santana, Julia Cantu, Adelfa Luna, Gilberto Mercado, Elida Mercado, Oscar Mercado, Ricardo Mercado, Norma and Samuel Mercado.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margarita Yanez Mercado and Manuel Mercado Sr.; siblings, Manuel Mercado Jr., Amadeo Mercado, Eva Mercado, Raul Mercado, Hector Mercado and Maria Garza.

The funeral mass was held on April 16 at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Alton. Burial followed at Lord and I Cemetery in Palmview.

Pallbearers were Fernando Mercado, Aaron Olivarez, Lucas Lozano, Benjamin Luna, Raymond Mercado, Rick Flores, Joe Soto Jr. and Valentin Rodriguez Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Victor Luna Jr., Leopoldo Olmeda, Nicolas Echartea, Joe Santoy, Tony Salinas, Robbie Sandoval, Cindy Guajardo, Carlos Mercado and Andy Garza.
