MISSION – Otila T. Vela, 87, passed away on Monday April 21, 2014, at Mission Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include a daughter, Ninfa Garza; sons, Javier Vela and Eduardo Vela; sister, Lupita Cavazos; brothers, Johnny Godinez and Luis Anzaldua; and four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus B. Vela; daughters, Raquel Cavazos and Baby R. Cavazos; brothers, Francisco Tijero and Fidencio Anzaldua; and a sister, Mary Salazar.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 23, from 1 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 24, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
Pallbearers will be Carlo Garza, Eric Barrientos, Anthony Vela, Mario Cavazos, Manuel Cavazos, Jr. and Johnny Godinez, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Mario Garza, Arturo Antonio Gonzalez and Gilberto Cavazos.
