OBIT-Juan Garcia

ALTON - Juan Garcia, age 65, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at his home in Alton.

Mr. Garcia was a lifelong resident of Alton. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War and had a career as a truck driver before his retirement.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Maria Hilda Garcia of Alton; daughter, Maria H. Garcia of Alton; sons, Esteban Garcia of Palmhurst and Daniel Garcia of Edinburg; sisters, Hortencia Meza of Weslaco, San Juana Molina of Mission and Guadalupe Mungia and Lydia Gonzalez of Alton; brothers, Eliborio Garcia, Horacio Garcia and Eluterio Garcia of Alton, Guadalupe Garcia of Elsa, Jose Garcia of Beeville and Abel Garcia of Houston; and five granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Josefina and Liborio Garcia, and sisters, Amelia Garcia and Virginia Chavarria.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 5, at 11 a.m., at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Alton. Interment with military honors by VFW Post 8788 in McAllen will follow at RGV State Veterans Cemetery on South Inspiration Road in Mission.
