OBIT-Rafael Rene Cavazos

MISSION - Rafael Rene Cavazos, 77, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014.

Mr. Cavazos was born in Mission on Nov. 27, 1936, to Roberto and Isabel Cavazos. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a lifelong truck driver. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Survivors include his children, Rafael Rene Jr., Rolando, Roberto, Rogelio and Anabel Cavazos and Maria Isabel Hinojosa; siblings, Jose Roberto, Arturo, Carlos, Maria Elena Gomez and Irma Rice; and 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Rita; son, Ramiro; and brothers, Ruben and Guadalupe Javier.

The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 21, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mission. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
