OBIT-Maria Salas

ALTON -Maria Salas, 86, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Solara Hospital in McAllen.

Mrs. Salas was born June 16, 1927, to Camilo and Ramona Espinoza in Hidalgo.

Survivors include her children, Frank Salas Jr., Hortencia Galvan, Sylvia Vela, Olga Salas, Alicia Cano, Maria E. Placeres and Maribel Garza; siblings, Margarita Lopez and Herculano Espinosa; and 20 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Camilo and Ramona Espinosa; husband, Francisco Salas Sr.; siblings, Hermelinda Saldana, Juanita Vela and Pedro Espinosa; granddaughter, Monica Rivas; and great-grandson, Joseph Salas.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, from 3 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at Virgil Wilson Mortuary in Mission. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 23, at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at Lord and I Cemetery in Palmview.
